Looking for an easy way to view traffic at Sabiha Gokcen, I put in a bit of time on Google Earth and came up with Hotel Divan Istanbul Asia.
It’s a tall,comfortable, modern hotel. I asked for a high floor facing north east (the back) and was given a room on the 17th floor (1706 I think).
The view was of most of the airport with all runway movements visible at a distance. SBS was put to good use, although for the time I was there, arrivals were from the South West and could be read from a mile away, passing at 1000ft.
Further to the view from the room, the top floor (1 above) had a restaurant and bar, both with open air terraces. The bar view faces the sea for arrivals from the SW and the restaurant terrace has a view of the sea all the way round to finals and Rwy 06.
There was also a remote view of the western biz ramps and the maintenance storage ramps.
Well worth a stop for some easy logging over a few beers.

Above : Good views can be had from the rooftop bar area looking out to sea and the approach onto Runway 06.
Aircraft pass around a mile from the hotel at around 1000 feet.

This hotel is located nearby to the beach and is the the approach or climb out depending on the wind direction. Even numbered rooms in the range *210-220 are required on any floor. Rooms 5214 and 5216 have confirmed views. These are twin rooms however roll away beds are available.
The hotel is reported to be of a good standard with pints of local beer at around 4 uk pounds. The beach is a short walk away with a number of restaurants where a Kebab meal can be had for around 6 pounds.
