Plane spotting Geneva
The main time for plane spotting in Geneva is during the annual bizz jet gathering EBACE. The airport is also a great location all year round however, due to its great mix of traffic and executive jets, as well as the scenic mountainous backdrop to photos.

| is located just North of the 05 threshold in the town of Meyrin. The hotel is just 1.5km form the airport and offers a free shuttle bus to the airport and the railway station for anyone who wants to sample the sights and sounds of this attractive city. Just a short taxi ride from the hotel is the public viewing area at the general aviation facility which faces south looking back towards the terminal areas. The hotel has its own bar and restaurant. There is a shell garage about 5 minutes away that sells food and drink, and was quite reasonable. Hotel has free Wi-Fi. Shuttle bus runs every 15 mins and is free. | ||

The hotel is shaped as a doughnut, so you want a high room facing the airport, I believe these are only double superior rooms (as we got upgraded). We had room 516. You need a high view room to get a decent view. If you ask the receptionist for a view of airport they will do this for you. If you are spotting, you can read the reg’s off in between the trees as they line up, although this is more difficult in the summer due to the foliage on the trees. The general view from the room is shown in the photo below. |

Movenpick Hotel And Casino
The Movenpick is situated at the Runway 05 threshold end of the airport complex and is a high end, expensive hotel. Ask for an airport view room on checking in where you will be rewarded with views of virtually the whole runway and a large part of the terminal ramp and taxiways.
Room 1428 is reported to be an excellent room. Most movements when departing can be read off from here in the day time. The hotel is a little too distant for photography.

Median Hotel
This hotel is situated at the Runway 23 threshold, around a 20 minute walk from the terminal on the French side. The hotel is situated next to a Lidl supermarket with a local bar just around the corner. There is a park outside of the hotel with great views of the threhold of Runway 23.
Wifi is available free with the room however it can be temperamental throughout the hotel. All landing traffic can be seen from the top floor of the hotel, ask for a runway facing room. Room 301 has great views and is a suite for up to 4 people with a balcony-great for photography in the late afternoon.
Only landing traffic on Runway 23 can be seen and read off from the hotel room. Many of the bizz jets ramps can be seen with a walk around the perimeter from the hotel. If Runway 05 is in use things are not great, departures are around 3000 feet when passing the hotel and arrivals cannot be seen.
When on Runway 23 is in use, great landing shots can be had once the sun swings around at around 1600 local in the summer months. Unfortunately trees block out any aircraft lining up to take off from 23.
