The hotel has everything, great panoramic views from runway facing rooms, a fantastic rooftop observation deck and even a genuine Lockheed Constellation which is used as a cocktail bar. | Location: | *** | The hotel is in effect a remodel of the old TWA terminal at JFK and sits adjacent to the Jet Blue Terminal 5 which is only a short walk away. The hotel itself is expensive however the cheaper eating establishments that terminal 5 offers are only 5 minutes walk away. |
| Spotting: | *** | Fantastic views out over 22 L and 22R from the runway facing rooms. A large section of the terminal 4 apron used by many international carriers can also be seen from many rooms. The hotel has a rooftop pool, bar and associated viewing deck which gives magnificent views over the airport and is open until 2300. JFK has always been in need of a viewing area and hotel guests can enjoy the views from this deck. |

| Location: | ** | A 2 mile journey to the central terminal area by shuttle bus. An extra bonus of this hotel is the airport shuttle bus will also take you to La Guardia, check with the hotel for times. On a clear day traffic flying from Philidelphia and Washington can be seen clearly overflying the hotel at high level for those with a SBS. |

Good, but sometimes distant views from the hotel. A good telescope will give you more of a chance to read aircraft off although ACARS/SBS would make things a lot easier! All movements can be seen regardless of the runway configuration although lots are distant. Ask for an odd numbered airport facing room as high as possible. With the use of SBS our correspondent identifies every aircraft during the day. If you are in a group we recommend that one of the groups book a room facing away from the airport. From these rooms distant views of arrivals can be seen into La Guardia Airport. |

Holiday Inn JFK
Not to be confused with the nearby Holiday Inn Express, the Holiday Inn JFK is situated under the approach for Runway 31R, this hotel can give good views depending upon the runway configuration. The hotel has a great bar and restaurant, there are also other diners and shops around a 10 minute walk away from here.
Arrivals for 31R appear very late from behind the hotel as they overfly at low level to land. It is possible to read these off if you are quick, flight tracking should ideally be used to give you ample notice of the arrivals. Traffic departing 31L can be seen in the distance taxiing out.
If landing Runway 22L all arrivals can be read off during the day time as they land in front of you. A top floor is required in this hotel due to trees and obstructions between the room and the airport.
Photography isnt good from the hotel room however the local favorite spots on Rockaway Blvd are only a 15 minute walk away if traffic is landing on 31R or 22L

Crowne Plaza JFK
Is situated nearby to the Hilton Hotel featured above with similar views. Even floor rooms ending in *02 to *16 from the 7th floor and above ensures that you will see all of the movements regardless of runway direction, although some will be very distant. If you are lucky with Runway 13 in use you will see movements at close quarters to the hotel. The hotel provides free wifi to all rooms.
