For a large percentage of the time runway 27 is in use, and therefore all the inbounds can be read off with ease with a decent pair of binoculars. LTI AKS Minola Palace Hotel
Is located on Amnisos Beach and is an adult only hotel located on very short final to the westerly runway at Heraklion. This hotel is great for photography and has the additional advantage of runway threshold views, therefore aircraft can also be seen lining up for departure.
Ask for a sea view room looking west towards the airport and you will get airport views all day long without leaving the room. The runway view from the Minola Palace beach is shown below :

There are numerous other resorts and hotels located under the final approach to the Westerly Runway at Heraklion. The resort of Gouves is situated under around a 4 mile final approach. The Island Hotel (adults only) and St Constantin Hotel and Blue Aegean Hotel have reported good views of inbound’s from the outdoor areas of the hotel.
Gouves is a great resort for families where inbounds can be seen and read off. Photographers may prefer the even nearer resort of Karteros, from where great photos can be taken between 0900 until mid afternoon.
Heraklion Airport Family Lux Apartment
This is one for the spotters only and is a private apartment available on the booking.com website. This apartment is literally on the end of the runway, the views from the lounge windows are unreal. The apartment is also stated to have an outdoor terrace which would in theory make photography possible from here.
